Getting started
Securd is a lending protocol built for the XRPL. You supply assets to earn interest, enable them as collateral and borrow against them. All actions are signed from an XRPL wallet. The protocol runs on XRPL EVM and uses Axelar to execute your actions there; you never interact with XRPL EVM directly.
Requirements
- An XRPL wallet. Supported wallets: Xaman, Crossmark, GemWallet, and any wallet compatible with WalletConnect.
- XRP for reserves and fees. The XRPL locks a reserve in every account (1 XRP, plus 0.2 XRP per trust line). Each Securd action also pays a bridge fee in XRP. Keep a few XRP above the reserve.
- Assets to supply. Any asset listed in Supply Markets on the Markets page. Issued tokens must be held under the issuer the market expects: for USDC, only USDC.axl (issued by the Axelar gateway) is accepted. See Trust lines.
Connect a wallet
- Open the app.
- Click Connect Wallet.
- Select your wallet and approve the connection.
Once connected, the wallet button displays your address. Its menu provides a copy action, links to your account on the XRPL explorer, to your Securd proxy on the XRPL EVM explorer and to Axelarscan, and the Switch Wallet and Disconnect actions.
Wallet registration
The first time a wallet connects, Securd registers it with the protocol. Registration records your XRPL account on the bridge adapter: the signer authorized for your actions, and your account as a trusted source of token transfers and messages. It is automatic and usually completes in under two minutes. While it runs, the account summary displays:
Registering your wallet — usually under 2 minutes. Actions unlock automatically.
Action buttons are enabled as soon as the registration is confirmed.
Account activation
Registration requires an activated XRPL account, i.e. an account that holds at least the base reserve (1 XRP). If the account is not activated, the app displays Your XRPL account isn't activated yet — fund it with at least 1 XRP, then retry. Fund the account and reconnect.
Spendable XRP
The app computes your spendable XRP as your XRP balance minus the XRPL reserve. The reserve is locked by the ledger and is never used by Securd. An action is only enabled when the amount plus the bridge fee fits within your spendable XRP.
Bridge fee
Every action pays a relay fee to Axelar, in XRP. The fee is quoted in the action modal before confirmation, as Bridge fee ≈ x XRP, and follows the relay's gas price.
When supplying or repaying an issued token (USDC.axl or LP token), the wallet prompts twice: once for the token transfer, once for the relay fee. The modal indicates this with (2nd wallet prompt).
Your Securd proxy
Your supplied assets and your debt are held by a proxy contract on XRPL EVM. The proxy is created on your first action and belongs to your XRPL account. It can only be driven by transactions signed from your wallet. See Protocol overview.
